Presentation

On Monday this week, I had a presentation with my partner. Our topic was greeting in China and in Japan.
I was so nervous before the presentation. The last night, I practiced speaking that I prepared for the presentation. However, I have a roommate and she sleeps early. So I couldn't practice in loud voice which is needed in presentation speech. That made me more nervous.
In the presentation, thanks to my partner, the beginning went well. I felt relaxed a little bit then. In my part, I forgot some of sentences which I prepared. Because of one mistake of timing I push PC's button, I lost my pace of speech.
I felt frustrated a little after the presentation due to the off my stride. However, I think our presentation was not bad. We forgot to set out timer to keep our pace in 6 - 8 mins, but that seems close to 7 mins, we felt.
I wanted to practice more and that was required to avoid nervous. I realized the importance of practicing again.

By searching about culture for presentation, I could understand what I didn't know about my culture and my partner's. The two was really different. But we all greet each other with considering other people, no matter how different the culture and language are. Comparing culture was so interesting. I could know new cultures from others' presentation, and also, I could find kind of new discovering about Japanese culture. There are many cultures in the world which I haven't heard before. And all are important for the people.

  1. When we try to make good presentation, things sometimes happen and it bothers our pace, we know. I often experience the similar situation to yours. In order to avoid such kinds of accidents, one of the best solution is to practice over and over again. However, not all of us can take enough time to practice. This is vexing issue.
I think your slides were designed smartly, and topic was also interesting. You didn't have to be nervous, I suggest. What we need before presentation is eliminating our negative view. But it's not easy. So one thing I pay attention to is making good slide which allow me to remember content of presentation. It's tough to remember all draft. But it's might easy to remember a few topics. So When I make a slide, I decide some cues related to the slide. And during my presentation, I remember the key words on seeing the slide. After I remember them, it's not difficult to tell what I want.
Unfortunately, If we show presentation without seeing our slide, we can't this technique. But anyway, I think it's also important to consider some way to avoid nervous feeling.

  2. Hi Rina,It's my pleasure to be your partner and you did a great job!I didn't know that you practice so much ,and I need to apologized to choose the first one to give the presentation without considerate your feelings too much.During the presentation,I didn't find that you make mistakes so you can feel free about that.On the other hand, compared with other's work,we still have more to improve,so we can put what we learned in this presentation into our next homework.
